Michelle Melton writes gritty paranormal suspense about what we inherit, what we hide, and what it costs to survive. A former crime-and-courts journalist and a friend of Bill’s since 2004, she writes like a survivor who’s stared down her own demons and learned which shadows hide real danger. Themes of recovery run through all of her books. The Sickness of Secrets, the first book in The Borrowing Series, is her debut novel. Michelle believes the most powerful force, supernatural or otherwise, is the courage to break generational cycles and choose a different path.
In her stories, secrets don’t just corrode families — they can become a murder weapon, and healing often begins when a character chooses honesty and steps into the light.
A former print journalist who covered the crime and courts beat, Michelle brings an investigator’s eye to page-turning, character-driven suspense. She is also an Author Accelerator Certified Book Coach with certifications in fiction, nonfiction, and memoir, and has spent three decades as a professional writer, writing coach, and strategic communicator.
