Stop dreaming about your book. Start writing it.
One-on-one book coaching for writers in midlife and recovery who are finally ready to start, write, and finish the book they’ve been carrying around for years.
Hi, I’m Michelle Melton Cox.
I teach people the learnable skills to embrace their secret dream of writing a book so they can go from feeling like an imposter with a silly book idea to being an author who did the hard work and wrote the damn book.
I’m an Author Accelerator Certified Book Coach in fiction, nonfiction, and memoir, a published author, and a former crime-and-courts journalist who has spent her whole adult life getting the truth out of strangers and finding the story in the chaos. I work with people in midlife and people in recovery who feel the tug to write and who want the connection, healing, and plain satisfaction that come from telling the story inside them. My clients start, write, and finish their manuscripts — and then they go publish them.
Two paths, one goal: a finished book.
Fiction & Nonfiction Coaching
Quit talking about writing and start the work of being a writer. With one-on-one, customized coaching, we’ll bring your novel or nonfiction book to life on a schedule you can actually keep. This time you won’t quit. You’ll finish your manuscript.
Writing in Recovery
I work with people in recovery who feel called to share their journey, examine their story through writing, and turn their experience, strength, and hope into something that helps someone else. We’re strong people with brave stories, and the message deserves to be carried.
— Darrah MacLean, author of the forthcoming YA novel The Friday Feel Good
Write the book. Use the robot.
I’m an AI Artisan Author (a nod to Joanna Penn’s term): human craft stays in the driver’s seat, and AI rides along as a collaborator for marketing, friction-removers, and revision. If you want to use AI, I’ll show you how to do it well, so you don’t end up with garbage and so you can spend more time on the work you actually love. If you’d rather not, that’s fine too. Your voice and your story stay yours.
There’s a reason you have this dream.
Your next step is a conversation. Email me and we’ll talk about your book.
